There is a quietness that has been here all along…

Stillness Retreat

Totnes, Devon
Wednesday 26th - Sunday 30th May (four nights)
A quieter way of meeting yourself.

The Intention

Stillness is one way we can learn to look more deeply at life, gently inviting a more receptive and attentive relationship to our own direct experience. We don't have to look very far. Everything we need is already here, within the movements of body, breath, mind and heart.

Each morning begins with meditation and pranayama practice. We break for breakfast before returning to the hall to continue our practice together, allowing attention to deepen gradually over the course of the morning. The afternoons remain spacious, with time to walk, swim, rest, read or simply spend time in nature.

Late afternoon, we gather again for a long Yin Yoga practice, where body, breath and stillness naturally begin to meet. Periods of quiet are woven gently throughout the rhythm of the retreat, creating the conditions for a deeper listening to life as it is.

The Place

Sharpham sits high above the River Dart, surrounded by woodland, gardens and peaceful walking paths. There is a quiet simplicity to the estate that invites us to slow down and spend time in nature.

It is a place that recognises the value of stillness, direct experience and our relationship with the natural world. During our time together, the landscape becomes part of the retreat, offering space to walk, swim, rest, read or simply spend time outdoors, allowing nature to quietly support your practice.

Your Home

The Coach House is a beautifully converted 18th-century stable block set within the Sharpham Estate. Every bedroom is offered as a private ensuite room, creating space to rest, reflect and settle into the rhythm of the retreat.

The rooms are arranged around a peaceful courtyard, with a small library, walled vegetable garden and outdoor swimming pool all within easy reach. Beyond the Coach House, miles of walking paths weave through the estate, inviting you to spend time in nature between practices.

Around the Table

Three vegetarian meals are prepared each day, many using produce grown in Sharpham's organic kitchen gardens. Meals are thoughtfully prepared to accommodate a range of dietary requirements.

Part of the rhythm of staying at the Coach House is caring for the space together. We each join a small team during our stay to help clear after one meal each day. These simple tasks become part of the retreat itself, reminding us that practice continues as much through the ordinary moments as the extraordinary ones.

A Different Rhythm

The rhythm is intentionally simple. Rather than filling each day, we create space for practice, nature and life to weave gently together.

Each morning begins with meditation and pranayama. We break for breakfast before returning to the hall, allowing the practice to deepen gently over the course of the morning.

The afternoons are spacious. Time to walk, swim, rest, read or simply spend time in nature.

Late afternoon, we gather again for a long Yin Yoga practice before returning once again to quiet. One evening we come together for a sound meditation.
